Chandigarh, May 31 -- The Punjab and Haryana high court has placed former special judge of the Panchkula CBI court, Rajeev Goyal, under suspension with immediate effect pending the initiation of disciplinary proceedings against him. According to an order issued on May 29, the chief justice and judges of the high court exercised their powers under Article 235 of the Constitution of India and Rule 4(b) of the Haryana Civil Services (Punishment and Appeal) Rules, 2016, to suspend Goyal, who is currently posted as additional district and sessions judge, Kaithal. The order states that during the suspension period, Goyal's headquarters will remain at Kaithal and he will not be permitted to leave the station without prior approval from the district and sessions judge, Kaithal. The HC directed that Goyal will be entitled to a subsistence allowance equivalent to the leave salary admissible on half-pay leave, along with other allowances as permissible under the Haryana Civil Services (General) Rules, 2016, from the date of his suspension....
