Chandigarh, May 13 -- Haryana transport minister Anil Vij on Tuesday said that the state transport department will buy 1,000 new buses, including 500 electric buses. He said that the government's objective is to modernise the public transport system and make it safe, environment-friendly and convenient for passengers. The minister said that all transport department buses will be equipped with an advanced tracking system enabling real-time monitoring of the buses. In addition, digital display boards, similar to those at airports, will be installed at bus stands so that passengers can receive accurate information regarding bus arrivals and departures in a timely manner. Vij said that a mobile application is also being developed for the convenience of passengers.
