Chandigarh, Sept. 29 -- Haryana government on Monday said that to promote horticulture and increase farmers' income, a scheme 'subsidy provision for cultivation of horticultural crops' has been implemented for the cultivation of fruits, vegetables, flowers, spices and aromatic plants. An official spokesperson said that farmers will receive subsidies ranging from Rs.24,500 to Rs.1,40,000 per acre for establishing new orchards. For vegetable cultivation, a subsidy of Rs.15,000 per acre will be provided to farmers of the general category and Rs.25,500 per acre to farmers belonging to the scheduled castecategory. This subsidy will be admissible only on adoption of integrated models involving practices such as mulching, low tunnels, drip irrigation or bamboo staking. Similarly, a subsidy ranging from Rs.15,000 to Rs.30,000 per acre is being provided for spice cultivation, Rs.8,000 to Rs.40,000 per acre for flower cultivation, and Rs.8,000 per acre for aromatic plant cultivation. To ensure transparency, the entire subsidy amount will be transferred directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiary farmers. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Monday said that Haryana will focus on research in the field of drone manufacturing to meet the growing demand for drones in India and abroad and expand their utility across various sectors. This will benefit startups working in the sector as well as provide employment opportunities to the youth of the state, he said during a meeting. Saini issued detailed directions to the officers regarding promotion of startups in the state, providing plug-and-play facilities to industries and equipping the youth of Haryana with technical skills.
