Gurugram, July 10 -- Four gangsters were shot dead and one was injured after a shootout in Gurugram's Sushant Lok Phase-2, police said on Thursday, adding that they were trying to overcome "a hostage situation". Three police personnel were critically injured in the shootout. Gurugram police said the suspects had holed themselves up inside a businessman's house and had taken his son hostage. Teams from the crime branch surrounded the house and tried to get to the suspects, who tried to flee and fired at the police, said officers aware of the matter. DCP (crime) Hitesh Yadav said teams from the crime branch were mobilised after an alert. "The suspects fired at the police team from the house," he said, adding the shootout took place between 10pm to 10.15pm. "Teams retaliated and five suspects were injured.
