Karnal, Nov. 4 -- The Ambala police booked unidentified persons for allegedly impersonating Haryana cabinet minister Anil Vij and seeking money from people for air ticket bookings and other documents. The case was registered on November 1 following a complaint filed by Vij's personal assistant (PA) and a local resident, Abhikant Vats. According to the complaint, the accused posing as Vij contacted a travel agency operator in Ambala Cantonment and asked him to book an air ticket and transfer money for other documents. The PA alleged that people were being misled by the fraudsters misusing the minister's identity, whose name was visible on Truecaller when the victim searched the number. The victim informed the minister's office about the incident, following which Vats filed a complaint. Police said a case was registered under Sections 204 (personating a public servant), 318(4) (cheating), 319 (cheating by personation), and 356(2) (defamation) at Ambala Cantt police station and the accused was being tracked....
