First in family: Sons of jawans fulfil dream of becoming officer
Dehradun, June 14 -- Saurav Chaudhary, a native of Bihar, comes from a family of soldiers but became the first commissioned officer in his family after passing out from the Indian Military Academy (IMA) on Saturday.
He is the son of Subedar Sanjeev Kumar and grandson of late Subedar (retired) Chandeshwar Choudhary.
He completed his schooling from OPG World School in Dwarka, Delhi, and later enrolled in a BTech programme at theManipal Institute of Technology (MIT), Manipal.
However, he left the course midway after clearing the National Defence Academy (NDA) examination.
"I started my BTech but chose not to pursue a corporate career as I was always inspired to wear the olive green uniform because of the military environment in my family," he said.
Aman Panwar of Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh is another example. His father and grandfather served in the Army, but he is the first in the family to become an officer.
"I am the first in my family to become an officer, even though my father and grandfather served in the Army. It is a proud moment for me and an opportunity to serve my country," he said....
