Mohali, Sept. 3 -- Two unidentified men on a motorcycle allegedly fired at a salon opposite CP67 Mall in Mohali, shattering its glass frontage on Wednesday evening. No casualties were reported. According to reports, the two men first surveyed the area three to four times before opening fire. The incident took place on a stretch that sees a steady flow of visitors every day because of its proximity to the mall. The salon owner had allegedly been receiving extortion demands and threats from different gangs for some time. Some of the calls were reportedly made from international numbers. The owner had earlier informed the police about the threats, following which security had been heightened in the area. After the firing, police reached the spot and examined closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera footage to trace the suspects movements. Deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Harsimran Bal confirmed the firing, stating, "We have registered an FIR and an investigation is underway." No gang has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
