Karnal, May 25 -- A fire broke out in a section of Mahabharata Anubhav Kendra in Kurukshetra on Sunday, officials said, adding that no casualties have been reported. After receiving information about the incident, five fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the fire was brought under control. Officials said the incident occurred in the basement of Block-B at the centre, reportedly due to heat. Following the incident the tourist site, opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in November last year, has been temporarily closed for immediate repairs. Senior in-charge at the centre, Rajesh Bhandari, said that the electric system mostly burned, causing heavy smoke and a fire in the centre. Soon after the batteries caught fire, the flames spread rapidly and engulfed nearby material. Luckily, the fire did not spread to the upper main portion of the centre, he said. Deputy commissioner Vishram Kumar Meena said that a fact-finding committee under additional deputy commissioner Vivek Arya has been formed to investigate the incident.
