Panchkula, Sept. 3 -- Fire broke out at an electronic chip manufacturing unit in Alipur industrial area of Barwala, Panchkula, on Wednesday. While no casualties were reported, machinery, raw materials and other equipment were charred. According to fire officials, information about the blaze was received around 9.40 am following which multiple fire tenders were rushed to the spot from Barwala fire office, Dera Bassi, Ambala Cantonment, Ambala City, Naraingarh and Kalka, and Panchkula. The blaze was brought under control after nearly nine hours. A few firemen reportedly sustained minor injuries while carrying out the operations. Sunil Dhull, second-in-charge of the Barwala fire office, said some chemicals were also stored at the plant due to which the fire spread rapidly. He said the exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained....
