Farmers' body stages protests across punjab
Amritsar, Sept. 2 -- Responding to the call of the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha, the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee on Tuesday organised gatherings across all districts of the state to raise issues concerning agriculture, labour and Punjab's interests.
Addressing the gatherings, committee's state president Sukhwinder Singh Sabhra and general secretary Rana Ranbir Singh announced that the organisation would stage five-day protests outside the residences of Punjab ministers from September 14 to press for acceptance of their demands.
Among the major demands, the committee sought procurement of basmati, maize, moong, mustard and potato crops by the Punjab government at the Minimum Support Price (MSP). It also demanded complete loan waiver for farmers and labourers, compensation for families of farmers and labourers who died by suicide and government jobs for one member of each affected family.HTC...
