Extended weekend rush leads to queues
Mussorie, Oct. 3 -- A heavy tourist influx over the three-day extended Gandhi Jayanti weekend led to long queues on the Mussoorie-Dehradun Road on Friday, with thousands of vehicles arriving from Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab.
Most hotels in Mussoorie were around 90% occupied, while traffic slowed near Library Bazaar and towards Kempty Fall. Police deployed a special traffic management and diversion plan across Dehradun and Mussoorie. Mussoorie police station in-charge Narendra Gehlot said check posts were established on key roads and hill approaches to prevent gridlocks. "So far, traffic is under control and the police is making all efforts to ease traffic movement," he said. Within Mussoorie, authorities implemented a three-tier parking plan.
