ED raids TMC Mp's premises, urdu newspaper office
New Delhi, Sept. 8 -- The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday searched seven premises linked to Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP Nadimul Haque, including his residences and offices in Delhi, Ranchi and Kolkata, and the office of Urdu daily Akhbar-E-Mashriq, in a money laundering probe.
ED alleged the newspaper overstated circulation to avail government benefits and received funds from the West Bengal government through an advertising agency linked to a Dubai-based entity.It also alleged the firm traded bitcoins 307 times and reported Rs.1.5 crore in cash without producing it. ED said it was examining the newspaper's funding. TMC called the raids "100% government vendetta".
"ED did not bother to check where Nadimul Haque is. He was in Ranchi as part of the government assurances committee's meeting. He will return to Kolkata at 9.30 pm. During the meeting, Haque raised the issue. This is 100% government vendetta. He had to leave the meeting," a senior TMC leader said.htc...
