ED raids mining sites, AAP leader's house in Pathankot
Amritsar, July 18 -- The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday conducted day-long raids at five mining sites in Pathankot district as part of its probe into alleged illegal sand and gravel mining. The searches, which began around 6 am, continued till late at night.
Multiple ED teams fanned out across mining locations around 6 am, halting operations at stone crushers in Narot Jaimal Singh and other areas. Raids were also carried out in Taragarh and Saili Road areas.
Later in the night, an ED team searched the residence of Vijay Kataruchak, a leader of the ruling AAP, considered close to Punjab cabinet minister Lal Chand Kataruchak, in the minister's native village. Officials reportedly questioned Vijay and his family till late at night about his business activities.
The ED did not issue any official statement on the searches till the filing of this report....
