Ludhiana, July 1 -- Khanna police on Tuesday destroyed narcotics seized in 53 cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act after completing the prescribed legal formalities. The contraband was disposed of under the supervision of senior superintendent of police (SSP) Darpan Ahluwalia at the government incinerator at Ishwar Nagar police post. According to police, the destroyed narcotics included 10 kg of poppy husk, 3.3 kg of cannabis, 1.05 kg of heroin, 60 intoxicating tablets and 49 empty cloth pouches seized during investigations in the cases. The SSP appealed to the public to share information related to drug trafficking with the police, assuring that the identity of informants would be kept confidential.
