Dehradun, Sept. 22 -- A 30-year-old man is absconding after allegedly shooting his wife dead at their rented accommodation in Dehradun's Clement Town early on Monday, police said. Investigators said the suspect, identified as Dheeraj Panwar, allegedly called a police control room at around 6am and claimed to have shot his wife. The call was traced to Clement Town's Idgah Road, where the victim, Kajal Panwar, was found lying in one of the rooms of a rented home with gunshot wounds to the head and abdomen. Dehradun senior superintendent of police (SSP) Pramendra Dobhal said the suspect's phone remained switched off since. Police questioned the couple's neighbours, one of whom was Kajal's brother Abhishek, he said. "He (Abhishek) told us that his sister and her husband had been fighting for several days," said the senior superintendent of police. The body was sent for post-mortem examination and a forensic team collected evidence from the scene, said police, adding that a case of murder was registered and a manhunt launched....
