Shimla, June 5 -- The 14th Dalai Lama is scheduled to depart his homein exile in Dharamshala on Friday for New Delhi, where hewill undergo surgery on his left knee. Following his recovery, the 90-year-old Tibetan spiritual leader is expected to travel to Ladakh toward the end of June for an extended stay, which will likely include celebrations for his 91st birthday on July 6. "He will undergo medical treatment on his left knee," the Dalai Lama's office said on X, adding that he was expected to travel to India's Ladakh region by the end of June for an extended stay. The Nobel Peace Prize winner had surgery on the same knee in New York in 2024.
