Congress flays AAP govt over delayed financial aid to women
Chandigarh, June 23 -- Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring on Monday demanded that the Aam Aadmi Party government pay Rs.51,000 to every woman in the state as it had promised before the 2022 assembly elections.
Warring accused the Aam Aadmi Party government of cheating women by denying them the cash assistance for over four years and "paying them peanuts" at the end of the term.
Chief minister Bhagwant Mann has announced that the government will start giving Rs.1,000 to every woman in the state from July this year, months before the state goes to polls.
The Punjab Congress chief said the people of Punjab, women in particular, understood AAP's intentions.
Warring also ridiculed AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal's claims that the Punjab government scheme was "world's largest" women empowerment scheme.
"This is a classic lie by Kejriwal," he remarked, while pointing out that Congress-ruled states like Telangana and Karnataka were paying Rs.2,500 and Rs.2,000, respectively, to women.
"The same scheme will be implemented in Punjab once the Congress forms the government after the 2027 assembly elections," he claimed....
