Cong protests against Mann for 'challenging' Akal Takht's authority
Amritsar, June 29 -- Punjab leader of opposition Partap Singh Bajwa on Sunday led a Congress protest near Town Hall, Amritsar, condemning chief minister Bhagwant Mann for allegedly challenging the authority of Akal Takht and refusing to abide by its directions.
Addressing the gathering, Bajwa said Akal Takht, the highest temporal seat of the Sikhs, had declared Bhagwant Mann as anti-Guru and anti-Panth, adding that it was the moral and religious duty of every Sikh to honour Takht's decision.
He said Mann should be ostracised socially as well as politically until he acceptedthe authority of Akal Takhtand sincerely atoned for his actions.
Criticising Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal, Bajwa said Kejriwal was fully aware of Mann's alleged disgraceful conduct, yet chose to retain him as the chief minister of Punjab. "
By shielding Mann despite knowing the facts, Kejriwal has become equally responsible for undermining the dignity and sanctity of Punjab's revered institutions," Bajwa said.
The Congress leaders pledged to continue raising their voice against any attempt to undermine the Akal Takht's authority. Senior Congress leaders OP Soni, Sukhwinder Singh Sarkaria, Jasbir Singh Dimpa, Sukhwinder Singh Danny Bandala, Harpartap Singh Ajnala, Harminder Singh Gill, Inderbir Singh Bolaria, Sunil Dutti, Dinesh Bassi and Mamta Dutta participated in the protest....
