Call-block tech to cover statewide jails
Chandigarh, Sept. 7 -- Haryana cooperation, tourism and prisons minister Arvind Sharma said the tower harmonics call-blocking system, introduced as a pilot project at Ambala jail, has restricted calls and internet access through illegally held mobile phones.
The minister said that, following the positive results, efforts are now underway to implement the technology in other prisons across the state. He said preventing the use of illegal mobile phones inside prisons is a top priority for the department and that modern technology is being utilised for this purpose.
"A key feature of this technology is that it does not require the installation of conventional mobile jammers," Sharma said, adding that special towers are installed within the prison premises to target and control mobile phones present there....
