Panchkula, July 21 -- Panchkula A retired bank employee and his wife, residing in Panchkula's Sector 12, had a harrowing night as three men, with their faces covered and carrying an iron rod, broke into their house, locked them in their room and looted gold and silver ornaments and other valuables before fleeing. Closed-circuit television cameras installed at the couple's residence showed the men entering the house around 2.30 am on Monday. Complainant Dalip Katyal said he and his wife were fast asleep when they heard some noises. When they tried to step out, they found that the door to their room was locked from outside. The couple later contacted a private security agency, whose personnel reached the spot and unlocked the doors. They later found that the almirahs in the house were ransacked and valuables missing. Police have registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Rakesh Aggarwal, a member of Panchkula Vikas Manch, questioned the effectiveness of night patrolling by police and expressed concern over the safety of senior citizens. htc...
