Bomb threat email triggers MC office evacuation in Panchkula
Panchkula, June 5 -- The Panchkula municipal corporation (MC) office in Sector 14 was evacuated on Thursday morning after a bomb threat was received on the civic body's official email ID at 9.54 am. The subject line of the email read, 'Bomb blast in Panchkula Mayor's office!!'
Following the alert, special teams of Panchkula police rushed to the MC office and conducted a thorough search. However, no suspicious or objectionable item was found. According to details, the threat email also contained references to alleged attacks on Hindu temples and railway infrastructure. The message claimed "Haryana Banay Ga Khalistan" and stated that Hindu temples were being targeted. Officials said the email threatened blasts on the Chandigarh-Ambala-Delhi railway route and at half a dozen Hindu temples, including two in Panchkula, one in Kurukshetra, one in Pehowa and two in Delhi.
The alleged dates mentioned for the railway blasts were June 5 and 6. The names of the purported senders claimed affiliation with the "Khalistan National Army." The email also specified the purported timings of the blasts at the MC office and railway locations. Deputy commissioner of police (crime) Amrinder Singh said that the police are verifying the source of the email and have launched an investigation to identify the sender....
