Chandigarh, July 17 -- The municipal corporation (MC) has made the use of body-worn cameras mandatory for all enforcement branch personnel during field operations, marking a significant step towards technology-driven and citizen-centric governance. The cameras have been issued to sub-inspectors, drivers, labourers and other enforcement field staff. They will now be worn during every enforcement drive to record official interactions and maintain complete transparency. Mayor Saurabh Joshi said the initiative is designed to strengthen public trust and establish a fair and accountable system of civic administration. "Every enforcement action will now be backed by digital evidence," Joshi said, adding that the move is meant to safeguard the interests of both citizens and enforcement personnel by preventing disputes and ensuring impartial and transparent conduct. The recordings will serve as an authentic record of enforcement activities, allowing the administration to conduct objective reviews when necessary. Joshi added that the mandatory use of body-worn cameras reflects the municipal corporation's resolve to embrace modern technology for better governance.
