Jalandhar, May 13 -- Two persons, including a Jalandhar-based local BJP leader, suffered gunshot injuries during a scuffle at the local vegetable market in Maqsudan on Tuesday evening, police said. The injured have been identified as Monu Puri, a BJP leader and former chairman of the vegetable market, and Tarun Kumar. Both are undergoing treatment at a local private hospital. Police said the incident occurred when Puri, a commission agent, was trying to resolve a dispute between two parties. "The discussion soon escalated into a heated argument, during which members of both groups allegedly opened fire. Puri sustained two bullet injuries in one leg, while Tarun, a member of the rival group, was also hit by a bullet. Both were rushed to a nearby hospital," police said. Puri's condition is said to be stable. Commissioner of police Dhanpreet Kaur Randhawa said the case has been registered and the investigation has been launched.
