BJP: Sewage overflow in Kharar society shows govt apathy
Mohali, April 5 -- Highlighting the sewage overflow in Aura Avenue of Kharar, BJP's Punjab media head Vineet Joshi on Saturday said it had exposed the Aam Aadmi Party-led Punjab government's "administrative failure and insensitivity" towards residents.
"Nearly 400 families are being forced to live in an inhuman and unhygienic condition, with overflowing sewage turning the residential society into a breeding ground for diseases," he said.
Residents' Welfare Association of the area informed that complaints have been repeatedly submitted to the Kharar municipal council, including the executive officer and also the sub-divisional officer.
"The situation has been going from bad to worse. Despite repeated complaints made to the officials concerned, no permanent solution has been provided. This is not just negligence, this is a direct threat to public health," Joshi asserted.
According to the BJP's state media inchrage, "The issue was also brought into the notice of local MLA Anmol Gagan Mann. Even the office of the Punjab health minister was informed, yet no action has been taken. This clearly reflects the collapse of governance under AAP."
When contacted, Khararexecutive officer Sukhdev Singh said the maintenance responsibility lies with the building."The builder is responsible for maintaining the Aura Avenue. We will conduct an inspection and will ensure timely resolution," he added....
