Panchkula, July 3 -- A Haryana-registered motorcycle rider was fined Rs.33,000 during a special checking drive conducted by Surajpur traffic police on the Kalka-Baddi Road in Pinjore at around 6.30 pm on June 30. The rider, a resident of Vishwakarma Colony, Pinjore, was stopped while riding a motorcycle without a registration number plate. During the inspection, police found the motorcycle fitted with an illegally modified silencer, unauthorised multicoloured lights, and stickers, including a cobra emblem and the word 'Sarpanch' displayed in English to project influence on the road. The rider was also found driving without a valid driving licence, was not wearing a helmet, and failed to produce the vehicle's registration certificate (RC) and other mandatory documents. Acting on the violations, Surajpur Traffic Police Station SHO Abhishek issued a total challan of Rs.33,000 under various provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act. The penalties included Rs.10,000 each for the modified silencer and violation of air pollution norms, Rs.5,000 each for driving without a valid licence and not carrying the RC, Rs.1,000 each for the rider and pillion travelling without helmets. The biker was further charged Rs.500 for using unauthorised colourful lights and riding without a number plate. The motorcycle was impounded and deposited at Pinjore police station....
