Panchkula, Sept. 11 -- A special court in Panchkula, presided over by additional sessions Judge Manish Dua, sentenced a 53-year-old auto driver to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment under Section 6 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl. The court also imposed a fine of Rs.50,000, with an additional six-month imprisonment in case of non-payment. The case dates back to November 2025, when the survivor's mother filed a complaint at the Panchkula women police station. According to the police, the convict, a close relative of the victim, used to transport the girl to school about an hour earlier than scheduled during 2023, and subjected her to sexual abuse. The young girl recognised the abuse through an awareness sessions on "Good Touch and Bad Touch" conducted at the victim's school.
