ASI caught taking Rs.7,000 as bribe: VB
Sangrur, July 15 -- An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) posted at the women's police station in Sangrur police lines has been caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs.7,000, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) said on Tuesday. The action against ASI Kamaljit Singh was taken after receiving a complaint from a Bhawanigarh (Sangrur district) resident, officials said. The complainant stated that his wife had filed a complaint against him, his father and his brother at the women's police station owing to a matrimonial dispute. The matter was being investigated by ASI Kamaljit Singh. According to the VB, the accused was not presenting challan in court and had been harassing complainant on the pretext of investigation.
After receiving the complaint, the VB, Patiala range, laid a trap and caught ASI while taking bribe. A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered at the Patiala VB police station, officials said.HTC...
