Mohali, Aug. 7 -- A 55-year-old man died by suicide in Handesra, following allegations of sacrilege at a local gurdwara. According to the family, the deceased was accused of committing sacrilege at the gurdwara. They alleged that an announcement about the allegations was made at the gurdwara the following day and that people from outside the village were also called there. The family claimed that the public announcement and the resulting social pressure, fear and mental distress drove the man to take the extreme step. Based on the family's complaint, Lalru police registered a case against Parvinder Singh under Section 108 of the BNS. Police said they are examining the allegations and the role of all those named in the complaint, the main accused, Parvinder Singh is absconding and raids are underway to trace him, police added....
