Kapurthala, May 25 -- Over 50 inmates were booked a day after violence erupted in Kapurthala jail, police said on Sunday. Iron rods, sticks and mobile phones were recovered during intensive checking after the unrest. The jail houses nearly 4,000 inmates. On Saturday night, inmates ran amok in the prison following a clash, with the authorities lobbing teargas shells and resorting to a cane charge to restore order, officials said.
