Sangrur, April 14 -- Seven persons have been arrested in connection with the murder of a Bhawanigarh resident on the night intervening April 6 and 7, Sangrur police said on Monday. Robbery was the motive behind the murder, police said. Sangrur senior superintendent of police Sartaj Singh Chahal said victim Ramji Singh, a resident of Balad Kalan village, was guarding his borewell machine when the accused turned up and murdered him to take away some pipes. The SSP said four iron pipes, a canter, a motorcycle, a stick and the deceased's mobile phone were seized from their possession.The accused have been identified as Asneh Pathak, Suraj Kumar, Ravinder Kumar, Monu Verma, Nitish Kumar and Munna Kumar, all hailing from Mandi Gobindgarh. The seventh accused is a juvenile, police said, adding that the accused confessed to committing several thefts.
