"The SSP has constituted a SIT to probe the alleged repeated rape, illegal abortion and death of a 14-year-old girl and her stillborn child in Kishtwar's Chatroo on Thursday," said a police officer. The SIT is headed by ASP Kishtwar, Pardeep Singh Goria, and its members include SDPO Chatroo deputy superintendent of police Nitish Kumar, SHO Chatroo inspector Rishi Kumar, and three other police officers, he added.
According to the police, the victim, a Class 5 student at the Government Middle School in Chatroo, and belonging to the Gujjar community, died en route to a hospital in Punjab after a forced, illegal termination of her pregnancy resulted in a stillbirth on Thursday.

She succumbed to her medical complications on Dhar Road during the journey, said officials. Police have arrested the prime accused headmaster, Khalid Hussain Sheikh (42), and his brother, Tariq Hussain.
A case was registered under provisions of the BNS and the POCSO Act against the accused.
The FIR also details that the accused headmaster allegedly threatened the victim's family and offered them financial bribes to suppress the crime before the forced abortion took place. Meanwhile, bodies of the victim and her still born child were laid to rest at their ancestral graveyard in Gurinall village in Kishtwar district on Saturday. Students also staged protests in adjoining Doda district demanding justice to the victim and her family....
