6 Barnala schools get hoax bomb threat emails
BARNALA, April 17 -- Six schools across the Barnala district were put on high alert Thursday morning after receiving bomb threats via email, prompting immediate evacuations and security checks by police and local authorities.
SSP Sarfaraz Alam said the threat emails were sent at 8am on a Thursday morning, naming Tondon International School, YS Public School, Aryabhatta International School, Sacred Heart Convent School and Gobind Public School in Bhadaur.
"Upon receiving the alerts, the police triggered standard operating procedures (SOPs) in coordination with the civil administration. Students were moved to designated assembly points. Anti-sabotage checks were conducted, and teams sanitised the buildings. Once the premises were cleared, students were allowed to return to their classrooms," he said.
The fresh scare comes close on the heels of similar threats in the past few weeks at multiple places in Punjab and Haryana, where such emails later turned out to be hoaxes.
The SSP said that the police cyber cell and technical teams are trying to track the sender, and a formal FIR is beingregistered....
