LUCKNOW, Sept. 7 -- Four members of a family - including three girls aged 16, 12 and seven - were killed when their mud house collapsed amid rain in a village in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur on Sunday morning, police said, adding their 19-year-old sister was critically injured in the incident. Chief minister Yogi Adityanath expressed condolences to the bereaved family and directed officials to ensure proper treatment to the injured and provide all possible assistance to the family, officials said. The deceased were identified as 45-year-old daily-wage labourer Mukesh and his daughters Maya, Neetu, and Pallavi. His 19-year-old daughter Kajal is undergoing treatment at Halet Hospital in Kanpur, police added. The incident took place around 9.30am in Hirni village when the family was inside the house. Villagers said the structure had weakened due to incessant rainfall over the past few days and suddenly collapsed, trapping the family under the debris. Hearing about the house collapse, villagers rushed to the spot and began rescue, while police and administration officials were also informed. After nearly two hours, the five family members were pulled from the debris and taken to Patara community health centre (CHC), where doctors declared Mukesh, Maya, Neetu and Pallavi dead. Kajal was referred to Halet Hospital in Kanpur in view of her critical condition. Mukesh's cousin Tej Bahadur Singh alleged that the family repeatedly called the Sadh police after the house collapsed, but their calls initially went unanswered. He claimed the police arrived late, prompting villagers to start the rescue operation themselves. The family members alleged delay in treatment due to non-availability of doctors and demanded an impartial inquiry into the incident and action against those found responsible....
