3 held for Hoshiarpur sarpanch's murder
Hoshiarpur, July 24 -- Two days after an Aam Aadmi Party sarpanch was stabbed and mowed down outside his residence in Hoshiarpur's Anandgarh village on Tuesday night, police arrested three accused on Thursday.
Satpal, 52, was attacked with sharp-edged weapons and later run over by the vehicle in which the assailants came when he tried to intervene in a clash between two groups outside his residence.
SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik said police had arrested Anmol, alias Anku, a resident of Mehlanwali; Anmolpreet Maula of Bassi Mustafa and Charanjit Singh of Bassi Bahian; while Pankaj Pathania of Mehlanwali and Vijay of Jahan Khelan had yet to be nabbed. Another accused, Anmol of Aslamabad, was caught by locals from the place of incidence, he said.
"We are searching for the absconding accused," the SSP said.
Meanwhile, family members of the deceased and villagers continued to stage a protest and refused to cremate the body till all accused were arrested. HTC...
