Ferozepur, Sept. 16 -- : A 28-year-old man was shot dead allegedly by his uncle during a confrontation over a land dispute at Mansoorwal Kalan village in Zira sub-division on Tuesday. The deceased, Gurwinder Singh (28), was allegedly shot three times by his uncle, Jaswinder Singh, who used his licensed pistol during the confrontation. The accused fled the spot and police have launched a manhunt to nab him. According to information, the two families had been at loggerheads over a piece of land for some time. The dispute escalated on Tuesday when Gurwinder and Jaswinder came face to face and an argument broke out over the land. During the heated exchange, Jaswinder allegedly pulled out his pistol and opened fire at Gurwinder. Three bullets hit him after which he died on the spot. The body was sent for post-mortem examination. The police are also examining CCTV footage of the incident.
