Karnal, Sept. 15 -- A private school bus with around 28 students got stuck in a flooded railway underpass amid heavy rain in Ambala's Barara block on Monday. Along with the bus, a couple of other light vehicles were also stranded in the underpass on Rajouli road and all were rescued by local residents. After the incident, locals demanded a permanent solution to the problem as the underpass usually gets flooded during monsoon season every year. Founder of an NGO Rasthra Jagran Manch, Amrinder Singh told the reporters that the incident happened around 8am, when they were informed about the bus stuck with 28 students. "We reached and soon, a fire tender and cops from the Barara police station also arrived. Meanwhile, a tractor-trailer was arranged by the residents, and the students were safely shifted from the bus to a safer place. The district administration should take strict action and ensure that rainwater is timely drained out from the underpass," he said. SHO, Barara police station, Sub-inspector Ram Karan said that they were informed that the driver negligently entered the underpass and got stuck with the bus, but all the vehicles were removed and all occupants were timely rescued....
