Jalandhar, Aug. 7 -- A 24-year-old youth and a teenaged boy were killed after their speeding car hit a tree near Sultanpur Lodhi's Sawal village past Wednesday midnight, police said. The deceased were identified as Rahul Gill and his neighbour Lahul, 17, both residents of Sultanpur Lodhi. Police said the mishap took place when the duo, along with Rahul's wife Anjana Rani, was travelling from Sultanpur Lodhi towards Talwandi Chaudhrian village in a Mahindra XUV 500 around 2.30 am. They said the car was moving at high speed, causing Rahul to lose control. The car veered off the road and hit a tree, before crashing into an iron fence and another tree. The impact of the collision left the car completely mangled. Police said Rahul died on the spot, while Lahul succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.
