Panchkula, April 7 -- A 23-year-old man from Punjab's Fazilka district was arrested with around 3 kg heroin and Rs.14 lakh cash near the cremation ground in Sector 20, Panchkula, on Sundayevening. The accused, identified as Lavjot Singh alias Money, aresident of Jalalabad, was produced before a local court on Monday and sent to policecustody till April 10 for further investigation. A case has been registered against him at the Sector 20 police station under relevant sections of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. According to police, the seized heroin is estimated to be worth crores of rupees in the international market. Preliminary investigation suggests that the accused had brought the consignment to supply it in Panchkula and adjoining areas. Police officials revealed that their team had received a specific tip-off about the accused. Acting swiftly, a naka was laid and the suspect was intercepted and searched. During the search, a large quantity ofheroin along with the cash was recovered from his possession.
