15-day drive: P'kula police issue 1,528 challans i
Panchkula, Sept. 17 -- District traffic police issues 1,528 challans and impounded 137 vehicles during a 15-day special drive against vehicles without number plates, tampered number plates and triple riding on two-wheelers.
The drive was launched by commissioner of police Pankaj Nain as part of efforts to improve road safety and prevent crime. Police teams conducted checking across the district from September 1 to 15, issuing more than 100 challans daily. Traffic police, police station and police post teams, were directed to intensify nakabandi and check vehicles on major roads, in markets and at important crossings. Nain said all police station rider teams had been directed to take strict action against vehicles without or with fake number plates....
