Karnal, Oct. 6 -- Rajya Sabha MP from Haryana Kartikeya Sharma has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him to consider conferring the 'Ashok Chakra'-the country's highest peacetime gallantry award-upon Captain Smit Machchhar, an Indian pilot with Flydubai, in recognition of his extraordinary courage, presence of mind, and dedication to duty. Captain Smit Machchhar, a native of Mumbai, sustained severe injuries during Flydubai flight FZ1073 last week. During the incident, his co-pilot allegedly attacked him and attempted to hijack the aircraft. Sharma said that despite suffering serious injuries and facing an extremely stressful situation, captain Machchhar did not lose his composure; instead, he discharged his duties while prioritising the safety of the 174 passengers on board above all else. "The courage and composure displayed by captain Machchhar during the crisis serve as an inspiring example of the indomitable spirit and dedication to duty inherent in Indians. His resolve to ensure passenger safety, rising above his own pain, reflects his bravery and spirit of service," Sharma said.htc...
