'Expect rain, snowfall in next 4 days in Valley'
Srinagar, March 8 -- India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rain and snowfall over the next four days.
As per the IMD, light snow was recorded in higher reaches of the Valley.
After scanning rainfall in February, MeT had predicted rain and snowfall in the next few days. This winter, there has been a 65% shortfall in the rainfall that has severely affected the discharge in the rivers and the streams.
A senior MeT official said, "From March 7 to 9, the weather will be cloudy with light rain and higher reaches and isolated places can witness snow.
From March 10 to 12, there is a possibility of light rain and snow (higher reaches) at many places," MeT office said in its daily bulletin.
The MeT office further said that a few higher reaches of Kupwara, Bandipora, Ganderbal and Anantnag may receive moderate snowfall.
"From March 13 to 15 the weather will remain cloudy with light rain/snow (higher reaches) at isolated places. Also from 16 to 17 March, the weather will be cloudy with light rain/snow (higher reaches) at isolated places."
The MeT has advised farmers to suspend farm operations between March 10 to 12.
"The day temperature will fall by 4-6degC after March 9 onwards at many places till March 12."
Meanwhile, traffic between Bandipora and Gurez was suspended due to fresh snowfall at Razdan Pass in Bandipora district....
