They turned me into a villain, but counter-attack starts now: Rahul after court relief
India, Oct. 10 -- Ten years after he was accused of abetting the suicide of his then girlfriend, Balika Vadhu actor Pratyusha Banerjee, actor-producer Rahul Raj Singh has been discharged by the Bombay High Court. "The public trial proved me a criminal within 10 days... I didn't get a single job from the industry, my production house closed down, and I couldn't get any acting work. It was like a complete boycott," he tells us.
Recalling Banerjee's death, he says, "Losing someone so close is painful beyond words." Maintaining that he tried to save her, Singh adds, "What was my fault? I broke the door, took the risk, and rushed her to the hospital to save her life." Referring to a phone recording recovered during the investigation, he says, "At times I think if police had not recovered a phone recording from Pratyusha's phone, then main toh khatam ho gaya tha; that recording saved me, and I am acquitted."
Now considering legal action against his accusers, Singh says, "Mentally, I am in a state to restart my work. I will pursue what I originally came to Mumbai to do: become a hero. They had turned me into a villain, but I will discuss with my legal team to counter them."...
