'This festive season is special because 2026 gave me what many actors wish for years'
India, Oct. 18 -- Fresh off the success of Chumbak, actor Anant V Joshi is ending 2026 on a high, making this festive season special. "Of course it's amazing. Koi plan nahin tha, just like that the entire year gave me what actors wish for years," he says, adding that the response to all three shows, including Maamla Legal Hai Season 2 and Gullak Season 5, has given him "badi himmat aur umeed".
With Chumbak's first season out, Joshi hints at another instalment, saying, "We discuss it on our WhatsApp group every day, so now we know the next season will come soon." While there is no official announcement yet, he is confident about its return. The 36-year-old adds that the show's open ending was intentional, allowing the makers to plan ahead based on audience response.
Meanwhile, Joshi will close the year with Eetha, starring Shraddha Kapoor. For him, a theatrical release brings its own excitement. "A theatrical release is very special because of that response, that nervousness, how it's going to be at the box office..." he says.
After a year defined by OTT successes, he views the shift as a natural progression. "I think an actor's job is a creative role; it's not a medium role; the love for the silver screen is always there," Joshi tells us.
On working with Kapoor, he says, "She is a gem of a person, very humble. Most of my scenes are with her, and that actually made me a bit nervous initially, but once we started working, things were on a roll."...
