Sri Lanka, July 29 -- A mobile phone valued at approximately Rs. 100,000, that was snatched by a monkey at the Trincomalee Koneswaram Temple, was rescued and returned to its owner, by a youth from Eppawala.

The youth, Velihenagamage Ruwan Kumara, recovered the mobile phone. Ruwan is a resident of the 22nd Post, Yakallegama, Eppawala.

On the day of the incident, Ruwan was on a trip to Trincomalee with his family members when he spotted a monkey carrying a phone.

Trying various methods, he finally succeeded in recovering the phone from the monkey.
