Sri Lanka, April 17 -- A 28-year-old young woman residing in the Welioya Estate area of Hatton was fatally attacked with a sharp weapon early this morning (17).

Watawala Police stated that the victim, who sustained critical injuries, had already passed away by the time she was admitted to the Watawala District Hospital.

The motive for the attack or the identity of those responsible has not yet been revealed, and a special investigation is underway to apprehend the suspects.

The body is currently placed at the Watawala Hospital, with the magisterial inquiry and autopsy scheduled to take place today.

Further investigations are being conducted under the direction of the Watawala Police OIC.
