Sri Lanka, April 24 -- A 44-year-old mother of two passed away on the night of the 22nd after sustaining severe burns while preparing traditional oil cakes.
Siyambalanduwa Police stated that the incident occurred on April 13th at a house in the Ampara Road 5th Mile Post area.
The victim was cooking when the oil pan suddenly caught fire, causing flames to spread to her body.
She was initially admitted to the Siyambalanduwa Base Hospital before being transferred to the Monaragala District General Hospital for further treatment.
Reports indicate that she succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday night.
Siyambalanduwa Police are conducting further investigations into the matter.
