Sri Lanka, May 24 -- A pedestrian died following a severe crash where a moving motorcycle hit her on the Kuruvikulam, Tharalawatta side road within the Rasnayakapura police division.

Police say the incident occurred yesterday (23) early morning.

The individual who died in the incident was a 44-year-old woman residing in the Panagamuwa area.

A motorcycle travelling towards Tharalawatta hit this woman who was walking on the road, and steps were taken to admit her to the Nikaweratiya hospital after she sustained serious injuries.

However, reports state that she died after admission to the hospital.

The motorcyclist also sustained injuries in the incident and currently undergoes residential treatment at the Nikaweratiya hospital.
