Sri Lanka, May 15 -- Wimalasurendra Reservoir started overflowing this afternoon following heavy rain in the Norton Bridge area since today, 14 May, according to engineers in charge of the reservoir.

Engineers stated that the spillover commenced during the afternoon hours due to the prevailing adverse weather conditions.

The water level of the Keselgamu Oya also rose slightly alongside the overflowing of the Wimalasurendra Reservoir, the engineers added.
