Wildlife officials treat sick elephant in Ampara
Sri Lanka, Oct. 23 -- Wildlife officers and veterinary teams are continuing treatment in an effort to save a wild elephant that suddenly fell ill and collapsed in the Ampara-Samanthurai area.
The Sri Lanka Army and Police are also providing assistance with the ongoing efforts.
The elephant, estimated to be between 25 and 30 years old, was observed to be generally healthy and well-built.
Although no external injuries were visible on the animal's body, its abdomen was found to be abnormally swollen.
