Sri Lanka, Sept. 10 -- A Civil Security Force soldier died following a wild elephant attack in the Rajagalathenna reserve, located within the Rajagalathenna Grama Niladhari division in the Bakkialla police area of Ampara.

The attack occurred around 7:00 AM today while he was walking towards Navagiriyawa, causing him to die at the scene, Bakkialla Police said.

The deceased was identified as 43-year-old E. Upali Wijewardena attached to the Bakkialla Civil Security Force.

Bakkialla Police Station launched an investigation into the death caused by the wild elephant attack. Additionally, wildlife officers arrived to inspect whether the wild elephant involved in the attack remains in the area.
